Essendon is a metropolitan electorate approximately four kilometres north-west of Melbourne, and is part of the Upper House (or Legislative Council) seat of Melbourne Province. Covering eighteen square kilometres, it contains the suburbs of Moonee Ponds, Strathmore, Strathmore Heights Aberfeldie, and parts of the suburbs of Essendon, Essendon North, Flemington and Ascot Vale. A residential area, the electorate features the Moonee Valley Racecourse and the Essendon Airport.The boundaries of the Victorian State Parliament seat of Essendon run between the following borders: - South of the Moonee Ponds Creek (border Pascoe Vale) |
