The Fabian Society
Website: www.fabian.org.au

The Australian Fabian Society - established in 1947 and active ever since - is Australia's oldest left political think tank. Australian political life is entering a new era. Thinking people are fed up with the constraints currently imposed on political imagination and initiative by narrow free market ideologies. There is a renewed hunger for policy options expressive of left of centre values and principles. People are once again ready to face up to the challenges of a changing society and a global economy. There is an urgent demand as seldom before in our history for radical thought and searching debate. If you want to help make the new thinking happen - if you want to be at the leading edge - there is a place for you in the Australian Fabian Society.

Other Branches
The Victorian rules for the Labor Party allow members to join any branch within their Federal Division. This makes participation in the Party easier as members can attend meetings according to times and locations convinient to them.

It also means that there are a number of Labor Party members who are members who reside in the State District, but are not members of the branches which meet in the State District. Likewise members of the branches who meet in the State District do not necessarily live in the State District.

Other Labor Party members who live in the Essendon District are also in the following branches: Brunswick, Carlton, Victoria St (Spanish), Niddrie, Coburg, Coburg West, Flemington, Maribrynong North (Turkish), East Melbourne, Moreland (Turkish), Pascoe Vale, St. Albans and Kings Park.

Local Labor and the Local Council
